Getting Ready for 2012 (New Year, New Theme, New Goals, and Lot’s of Excitement)

No long introduction for this post (it’s already 2 weeks late) – but as a continued promise to myself, wanted to make sure to reflect and publicly post my goals and ambitions for the year.

This year’s broad theme is focus – selecting fewer projects and working on going deeper in my learning and experience.  For ease, I broke them into three categories – Fitness, Fun, and Professional.

Looking forward to CES this week and another great year together!

Announcing the San Francisco Open Coffee Club

For the last few months, Courtney from Kiip and I have been taking Thursday mornings to grab breakfast for an hour at Crossroads Cafe to talk about technology, hot new companies, and startups in general.

It started as an excuse to get away from the construction currently going on in the True Ventures Office in the morning, but has grown into a weekly time to just think about our world away from the constant distraction of computers.  (If you don’t think this is hard – try doing nothing for two minutes.)

Running Schedule for 2011

I ran my first marathon last summer just after joining the team at True last June.  I signed up in October as a long-term goal to encourage me to continue working out after moving to San Francisco.

Looking forward to 2011, I’m planning a combination of marathons and half-marathons – both to encourage myself to stay in shape and because marathons are generally fun.

My favorite part of race day is the commrodery and new friends, so taking a page from Brad Feld’s blogfeel free to reach out if you’re around for any of these races.

The following is my current plan:

Startup Waffles Tomorrow

Just a quick post to remind everyone about Startup Digest’s Startup Waffles at True Ventures office in San Francisco tomorrow from 8 AM to 10 AM.

Instead of writing a blog post, I spent the night mixing waffle batter and playing with my new favorite mobile application Instagram.  I know I’m late to the party but it is the best picture, location, and experience sharing application I have found and has drastically increased my social engagement on Foursquare, Tumblr, and Twitter immediately.

So for the blog tonight – a brief preview for tomorrow’s event in picture.

Enjoy!

Life in Beta: An Introduction

Greetings! My name is Adam D’Augelli and welcome to My Life in Beta.

To begin, first a little bit about me:

I’m an economics and marketing nerd turned entrepreneur with an affinity for disruptive technology and Chipotle Burritos.

I work for True Ventures, an early-stage venture capital fund with offices in Northern Virginia, San Francisco and Palo Alto. We partner with promising entrepreneurs at the earliest stages in the technology market providing hands-on management support to guide our portfolio companies through the challenges of early growth.

My writings here will cover the gambit of my interests – from product design and digital storytelling to behavioral economics and quantified living.

** Please note: The opinions written here are my own and may not represent the feeling of the firm.  I’ll do my best to disclose conflicts on interest in each post as well. **
